French Tech Firm Unveils Groundbreaking Energy Storage Solution

by Krystal

Socomec, a French industrial group, has introduced a cutting-edge energy storage method poised to revolutionize multiple industries, according to PV Magazine.

The newly developed modular energy storage system, named Sunsys HES L Skids, boasts a remarkable capacity of up to 1,116 kilowatt-hours (kWh). Comprising battery cabinets, a converter cabinet, and an AC power distribution cabinet, this system offers a host of potential benefits across various sectors.

Furthermore, the optional AC cabinet incorporates features such as multi-source paralleling and islanding. To mitigate overheating concerns, the system employs liquid cooling thermal management, maintaining a storage temperature range of negative 20 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius (negative 4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit).

Socomec highlighted the streamlined installation process facilitated by the pre-assembled and internally cabled cabinets mounted on a customized SKID. This approach minimizes installation time, reduces the need for extensive civil works, and ensures optimal quality. Additionally, the system’s enhanced design enhances portability and deployability, enabling installation at alternative sites.

The unveiling of Socomec’s innovation underscores a broader trend in the energy sector towards cleaner and more efficient energy storage solutions. Similar efforts are underway globally, with companies like Yotta Energy in Texas developing modular battery systems for enhanced energy storage in commercial settings, and initiatives such as repurposing old EV batteries for utility-scale energy storage gaining traction.

These advancements align with a broader shift towards a modular and adaptable energy infrastructure, essential for optimizing the utilization of renewable energy sources. With renewable energy accounting for 20% of the United States’ total power generation, innovations in energy storage hold significant promise for a more sustainable future.
