Gasoline prices in the Meadville area increased by approximately 10 cents per gallon over the past week. In comparison, the average price across Pennsylvania rose by just 3 cents.
On Tuesday, local gas prices in Meadville were around $3.80 per gallon at most stations. This contrasts with the state average, which stood at $3.59, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 5,269 stations in Pennsylvania.
Compared to a month ago, gas prices in Pennsylvania have decreased by 9.6 cents per gallon. Over the past year, prices have dropped by 31.1 cents per gallon. Reports indicate that the lowest price for gas in Pennsylvania on Monday was $3.09 per gallon, while the highest was $4.39.
Nationally, gas prices have trended downward. Over the past week, the national average fell by 3.2 cents per gallon, reaching an average of $3.41. This represents a decline of 11.6 cents per gallon from a month ago and 42.5 cents per gallon from a year ago, according to GasBuddy.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted, “As the summer driving season winds down, gasoline prices are falling in most parts of the country due to muted demand. Diesel fuel prices have also dropped to their lowest level since before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Unless a major hurricane disrupts refineries in the Gulf region, we might see further declines this week. The national average could reach its lowest point of the summer. However, if economic data exceeds expectations, there could be a temporary price increase. Some states, particularly in the Great Lakes and Florida, may experience routine price cycles, but overall, prices are lower nationwide compared to a year ago.”
