ASORC Processes 3.3 Million Tons of Crude Oil in the 2023/24 Fiscal Year

Maged El-Kordy, the head of Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC), reported on the company’s main accomplishments in the fiscal year 2023/24. He noted that the refinery successfully processed about 3.3 million tons of crude oil into petroleum products to satisfy local market demand.

These updates were shared at a general assembly meeting led by Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to discuss the company’s performance in the 2023/24 fiscal year.

El-Kordy discussed the company’s investments in equipment replacement and renewal, with a focus on improving health, safety, and environmental protection (HSE). He also mentioned ongoing initiatives, such as the construction of a new atmospheric distillation unit (CDU3) designed to handle 5 million tons of raw materials annually, along with its vapor recovery unit (VRU3) and associated components.

The assembly meeting also addressed projects to enhance the performance of the two current distillation units, upgrade existing production facilities, build new storage areas, and boost the efficiency of 12 existing warehouses. The discussions included solar energy projects, efforts to reduce the carbon footprint, and community development initiatives, demonstrating the ministry’s dedication to supporting the local community in Upper Egypt.
