Woman Hospitalized for Burns After Cheung Sha Wan Gas Explosion

A woman has been hospitalized with severe burns after a gas canister exploded in Cheung Sha Wan on Sunday night. The incident occurred while she was using a blowtorch to prepare Chinese medicine.

Around 9 p.m. on September 22, 31-year-old Yeung was burning sage in her apartment on the 6th floor of Yiu Fai Mansion on Tsap Fai Street. A sudden fire ignited, causing the gas canister to explode, resulting in multiple burns on her face, hands, and legs.

After the explosion, Yeung reached out to her mother, who immediately contacted the police.

Emergency services arrived quickly. Firefighters provided first aid, applying a facial mask and dressings before taking Yeung to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Yeung is currently receiving treatment for burns covering about 20 percent of her body and has been placed in the intensive care unit for further care.
