Gulf Coast Gas Prices Increased Since Last Week

Gas prices in the Gulf Coast region saw a small increase last week, averaging $2.73 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday. This is up from the previous week’s average of $2.70 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Despite this week’s rise, the average price has dropped by about 7 cents since last month. The EIA reports that gas prices in the Gulf Coast have ranged from a low of $2.55 on December 18, 2023, to a high of $3.46 on August 21, 2023.

Compared to last year, the average gas price in the Gulf Coast region is 14% lower. A year ago, the average was $3.19 per gallon. In contrast, the national average gas price last week was $3.14 per gallon, meaning Gulf Coast prices are approximately 13.1% lower than the national average. This national average has also decreased from $3.18 per gallon the week before.

The EIA’s data for the Gulf Coast region includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas.
