Gas prices in the Rocky Mountain region decreased for the second straight week, averaging $3.26 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday. This is down from last week’s average of $3.27, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Over the past month, the average fuel price in the Rocky Mountain region has fallen by about 14 cents. The EIA reported that gas prices in the region have varied significantly over the past year, reaching a low of $2.67 on January 22, 2024, and a high of $4.07 on September 18, 2023.
One year ago, the average gas price in the Rocky Mountain region was $3.71 per gallon, which is 12% higher than the current average.
Nationally, the average gas price last week was $3.17, making prices in the Rocky Mountain region approximately 2.7% higher than the national average. The national average has also risen from $3.14 per gallon the previous week. The EIA’s price survey for the Rocky Mountain region includes the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming.
