California gas prices saw a slight decrease last week, with the average cost for regular fuel dropping to $4.41 per gallon on Monday, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This marks a small dip from the previous week’s price of $4.43 per gallon.
Over the past month, gas prices in California have fallen by about 8 cents. The EIA reports that fuel prices in the state have ranged between $4.22 per gallon, recorded on January 2, 2023, and a peak of $5.90 per gallon on October 2, 2023.
Compared to last year, gas prices in California are 16% lower. In 2022, the average price was $5.22 per gallon. However, California’s prices remain significantly higher than the national average. Last week, the average gas price across the U.S. was $3.14 per gallon, meaning California’s rates are about 40.1% above the national figure.
