The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County increased by four-tenths of a cent today, reaching $4.625. This marks the end of an 11-day streak of declining prices.
During this decline, the average price fell by 6.4 cents, according to data from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Compared to last week, prices are down by 2.6 cents, 2.5 cents lower than a month ago, and 86.8 cents less than this time last year. Since peaking at a record $6.435 on October 5, 2022, prices have dropped by $1.81.
Doug Shupe, the corporate communications manager for the Automobile Club of Southern California, noted, “We are entering the time of year when gasoline demand typically drops. On November 1, Southern California gas stations will start selling winter-blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce and will lower costs for consumers.”
Meanwhile, the national average gas price has also fallen for 11 straight days, decreasing by six-tenths of a cent to $3.13. This price is 4.7 cents lower than last week, 9.3 cents less than a month ago, and 38.8 cents lower than a year ago. It has decreased by $1.886 since reaching a high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
