Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Abdolnasser Hemmati, who is in Riyadh for the 28th WAIPA World Investment Conference, met with OPEC Fund President Abdulhamid Alkhali on Monday.
During their meeting, Hemmati emphasized the importance of organizing a workshop to introduce the OPEC Fund to Iranian companies. He noted that the participation of Iranian contractors in OPEC Fund projects would be highly beneficial. “We welcome the OPEC Fund’s president and experts to Iran, and we are committed to fulfilling our obligations to the Fund,” he added.
In response, Alkhali praised Iran as one of the most valuable members of the OPEC Fund, highlighting that Iran’s involvement has significantly increased the Fund’s value. He also mentioned that the OPEC Fund aims to become one of the largest financial institutions in the future and is open to receiving technical and engineering services from Iranian companies.
The WAIPA Investment Conference, held annually since 1995, focuses on global economic and social issues that affect investment flows, as well as strategic and policy concerns. The event offers panel presentations, networking opportunities, and social events for its members. This year’s theme is “Harnessing Digital Transformation and Sustainable Growth, Scaling Investment Opportunities.”
