Pakistan has raised the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, according to a notification from the Ministry of Finance. Petrol prices have increased by Rs 3.47, bringing the new cost to Rs 256.13 per liter. High-speed diesel prices have also gone up by Rs 2.61, reaching Rs 260.95 per liter.
The new prices will take effect at midnight tonight.
This price hike follows a previous increase on December 31, when petrol was raised by 56 paisas per liter, setting the price at Rs 252.66 per liter. The price of high-speed diesel was also raised by Rs 2.96, reaching Rs 258.34 per liter.
Over the past month and a half, the price of petrol has risen by Rs 5.07 per liter, while high-speed diesel has increased by Rs 12.14 per liter since October 16. The significant price rise is partly due to the government’s inability to reduce the petroleum levy, as restrictions imposed by the IMF program have prevented such cuts.
