Azerbaijan Suspends Shah Deniz Gas Platform Maintenance Until January 19

by Krystal

Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company (AGSC) announced on Wednesday that unplanned maintenance at the Shah Deniz Alfa gas platform is expected to last until January 19.

This maintenance will reduce gas supplies to Europe by 8.5 million cubic meters per day, according to the company’s website.

BP, the operator, revealed on January 10 that it had halted the platform’s operations after identifying a technical problem with the subsea gas condensate export line connecting the platform to the Sangachal terminal.

The Shah Deniz Alfa platform contributes around 40% of the field’s output, while the Bravo platform, which remains in operation, continues to produce and export gas.

BP spokesperson Tamam Bayatli told Reuters on Wednesday that the company is actively addressing the issue.

“We are working to fix the problem with the subsea condensate line. We will update once the issue is resolved and normal operations resume,” she stated.
