Diesel Price Drops 6.2¢ to $3.635 per Gallon

The national average price for diesel dropped by 6.2 cents, ending a four-week streak of gradual increases, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration on March 3. Diesel now costs $3.635 per gallon.

Over the past month, diesel prices had risen by just 3.7 cents in total, following a series of four increases since February 3.

Compared to the same time last year, diesel is now 38.7 cents cheaper per gallon.

Diesel prices fell in all five PADD districts, with the largest drop of 7.7 cents per gallon in the Gulf Coast. The West Coast, excluding California, saw the biggest overall decrease, dropping 7.9 cents.

The Rocky Mountain region had the smallest decline, with a 1.7-cent drop. The New England subregion experienced the least overall change, with a reduction of just 0.6 cents.
