U.S. has long been aware of Ukraine’s plans to attack gas pipelines (June 7)

by Wendy

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing leaked information posted online, that the U.S. knew about Ukraine’s plans to attack the Nord Stream gas pipeline three months before it exploded last September. The CIA learned last June through a European spy agency that a six-man team of Ukrainian special operations forces planned to blow up the gas pipeline project linking Russia to Germany.

Jack Teixeira, a member of the U.S. Air National Guard, shared the intelligence report on social networks, and the Washington Post said it got a copy from a Teixeira netizen. Teixeira was arrested in April and indicted for allegedly leaking sensitive U.S. documents.

The report said the intelligence was based on information provided by a source in Ukraine, which the CIA shared with Germany and other European countries in June 2022. Asked about the Washington Post report on the matter, National Security Council spokesman Kirby said: “The last thing we want to do is speak before the results of the investigation are out.”
