Siemens Energy Takes Charge of Hydropower Plant Rehabilitation
Siemens Energy has undertaken a crucial role in the rehabilitation of three hydropower plants within the Aswan Hydropower Complex in Egypt, including the High Dam, Aswan I, and Aswan II. The project’s objectives include upgrading power transformers, adding 300 MW to the national grid, and extending the operational lifespan of these plants to 40 to 50 years. This endeavor not only propels Egypt towards achieving its renewable energy targets but also underscores the significance of sustainable, affordable, and reliable energy solutions.
ACWA Power and Partners Forge Ahead with Green Ammonia Project
A significant agreement has been reached between ACWA Power, The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA). This collaboration focuses on the initial phase of a green ammonia project, driven by wind and solar plants, boasting a capacity of 600,000 tonnes-per-year. Concurrently, plans for an expansive green hydrogen project are underway, aiming to produce up to two million tonnes per year of green hydrogen.
