Alternergy Holdings Corp. and National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) have inked a pact to link Alternergy’s wind power venture in Quezon province to the grid.
Under the interconnection agreement, signed between Alternergy’s subsidiary Alabat Wind Power Corp. (AWPC) and NGCP, cleaner energy will flow through the 69-kilovolt Hondagua transmission line in Lopez town.
Alternergy president Gerry Magbanua hailed NGCP’s provision of an efficient interconnection scheme, ensuring viability and timely completion of the Alabat Wind Power Project.
NGCP President and CEO Anthony Almeda emphasized their commitment to supporting power project developers, facilitating the necessary energy infrastructure for socioeconomic benefits and the government’s energy transition goals.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by renewable energy developers, Almeda affirmed NGCP’s dedication to delivering capacity from the Alabat Wind Power Project as per the committed timeline.
Magbanua described the accord as a significant breakthrough for the planned wind facility, enabling it to fulfill its commitment under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) second Green Energy Auction Program.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, the wind project by AWPC is progressing toward the construction phase following DOE’s approval.
