Scottish Renewables has unveiled its latest edition of the Supply Chain Impact Statement, revealing that 90% of the companies featured in the report have recruited new staff exclusively for roles in renewable energy over the past year.
The Supply Chain Impact Statement serves as an annual overview of the achievements within Scotland’s clean power sector, showcasing the contributions of businesses and organizations across the nation’s burgeoning renewable energy industry.
Highlighted companies in this year’s report include:
SD Wind Energy: Known for providing small-scale wind turbines and hybrid renewable energy systems installed globally, from Antarctica to the Arctic Circle.
Napkin Innovation: A company pioneering non-grouted foundation connections for offshore wind projects.
Utility ROV Services: Specializing in customized subsea operations through remote-operated vehicles to support offshore wind endeavors.
FES Group: Based in Stirling, offering comprehensive services for solar PV, battery storage, hydro power, and district heat solutions.
The 40 supply chain companies featured in the Impact Statement collectively employ over 1,270 individuals dedicated exclusively to renewable energy.
Emma Harrick, Head of Energy Transition and Supply Chain at Scottish Renewables, emphasized the critical role played by Scotland’s renewable energy supply chain in shaping the nation’s energy future. Harrick noted the significant contributions to the economy, major infrastructure projects, and the progression towards cleaner energy sources.
Survey results from the companies showcased in the report indicate unanimous optimism regarding Scotland’s renewable energy future. A resounding 100% of respondents expressed confidence in Scotland as an attractive investment destination for renewable energy, with all respondents confident in securing work within the industry over the next five years.
In response to the report, UK Government minister for Scotland, Lord Cameron, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the renewables sector, citing the UK’s substantial investment in clean energy. Scottish Government Energy Minister, Gillian Martin, underscored Scotland’s position as a leader in renewable energy, highlighting ongoing collaboration with industry to foster sustainable economic growth and create green jobs.
