China’s natural gas production has seen consistent growth in the first five months of 2024, as per data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Monday.
During this period, China produced 103.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, marking a 5.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, NBS data also revealed significant growth in China’s natural gas imports. The country imported a total of 54.28 million tonnes of natural gas in the first five months of 2024, reflecting a 17.4 percent year-on-year increase.
In May alone, China’s natural gas output grew by 6.3 percent year on year to reach 20.3 billion cubic meters, according to the bureau’s report.
