Gas prices in Massachusetts have decreased for the second consecutive week, averaging $3.44 per gallon for regular fuel as of Monday, down from last week’s $3.45 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Over the past month, the average fuel price in the state has dropped by about 8 cents. Looking back over the year, the EIA notes that gas prices in Massachusetts ranged from a low of $3.07 on January 29, 2024, to a high of $3.76 on August 7, 2023.
Comparatively, a year ago, the average gas price in Massachusetts was slightly higher at $3.50 per gallon, marking a 2% increase.
Nationally, the average gas price in the United States last week stood at $3.44 per gallon, indicating a slight increase from the previous week’s average of $3.43 per gallon. This places gas prices in Massachusetts just 0.1% above the national average.
