Gas Prices in San Diego County Stay Stable

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County decreased slightly on Sunday to $4.794 per gallon, dropping by one-tenth of a cent.

According to data from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service, the new average price is 3.2 cents lower compared to last week, 5.1 cents lower compared to last month, and 16.3 cents lower compared to the same time last year. Since reaching a record high of $6.435 on October 5, 2022, the price has fallen by $1.641.

On a national level, the average price of gasoline dropped by six-tenths of a cent to $3.522 per gallon. This represents an increase of 1.6 cents compared to last week and an increase of 6.3 cents compared to last month, but it is 4.4 cents lower than the average price one year ago. Since reaching a record high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022, the national average price has decreased by $1.494.

Andrew Gross, AAA’s national public relations manager, noted that Hurricane Beryl caused limited damage to Gulf Coast energy facilities. Despite a forecast of a record 60 million travelers hitting the highways for the July 4 holiday, overall gasoline demand decreased. This decline during a holiday week is unusual and may indicate shifting demand trends.
