TotalEnergies is withdrawing from its gas extraction activities in Block 11B-12B off the coast of South Africa. The French energy giant’s subsidiary, TotalEnergies EP South Africa, previously held a 45 percent stake in the block. This decision follows a similar move by their partner, Cnri.
TotalEnergies had entered the block two years ago and made discoveries in the Bruldappa and Luiderp fields. However, these finds were not developed further due to challenges in the South African market.
In addition, TotalEnergies is also pulling out of Block 5-6-7, where it held a 40 percent stake.
