Gas prices in the Rocky Mountain region increased last week, reaching an average of $3.40 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday. This marks a rise from the previous week’s average of $3.32 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Over the past month, the average price has climbed by approximately 4 cents. The EIA reports that in the past year, gas prices in the Rocky Mountain region have varied significantly, hitting a low of $2.67 on January 22, 2024, and a high of $4.07 on September 18, 2023.
Compared to a year ago, when the average price was $3.87 per gallon, current prices are 12% lower. Nationwide, the average gas price last week was $3.48, making Rocky Mountain prices about 2.6% lower than the national average. This is a slight increase from the previous week’s national average of $3.47 per gallon.
The EIA’s price report for the Rocky Mountain region includes data from Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming.
