Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, commented, “As the summer driving season winds down, gasoline prices are generally declining across the country due to lower demand. Diesel fuel prices have also dropped to their lowest level since before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

De Haan added, “Unless a major hurricane disrupts refineries in the Gulf region, we could see prices continue to drop this week, potentially reaching their lowest point of the summer. However, better-than-expected economic data might cause a brief increase in prices. Some states might experience routine price fluctuations, especially in the Great Lakes and Florida, but overall prices remain lower compared to a year ago.”

GasBuddy is a leading authority on gas prices and provides station-level data through updates made 288 times daily from a broad range of sources, covering nearly 150,000 stations nationwide.
