WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) — Gasoline prices in Texas have decreased to an average of $2.99 per gallon today. This marks a drop of 0.9 cents from last week and a 14.9-cent decline from last month.
The lowest price for gas in Texas is currently $2.39 per gallon, while the highest is $3.79 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. In Wichita Falls, the average price is $2.84 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price for gas stands at $3.41 per gallon. This is an 11.6-cent drop from a month ago and 42.5 cents lower than this time last year.
As the summer driving season winds down, gas prices continue to fall across much of the country due to low demand. Diesel fuel prices have also dropped to their lowest levels since before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If major hurricanes do not disrupt refineries in the Gulf region, prices may continue to decline this week, possibly reaching their lowest point of the summer. However, if economic data exceeds expectations, there could be a brief increase in prices. Some states, particularly in the Great Lakes and Florida regions, might experience price fluctuations. Despite this, gas prices remain lower across the board compared to a year ago.
