Gas Prices in the Midwest Dropped Last Week

Gas prices in the Midwest fell for the second week in a row, reaching an average of $3.39 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday. This is a decrease from last week’s average of $3.43 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The average fuel price in the Midwest has risen by about 2 cents since last month. Over the past year, gas prices in the region have ranged from a low of $2.77 on January 8, 2024, to a high of $3.77 on August 14, 2023.

One year ago, the average gas price in the Midwest was $3.77 per gallon, which was 10% higher than the current average. The national average gas price last week was $3.41, making Midwest prices approximately 0.6% lower than the national average. This marks a decrease from the previous week’s national average of $3.45 per gallon.

The EIA tracks prices in the Midwest, including the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
