U.S. fuel ethanol production saw a significant increase of more than 2% during the week ending Aug. 16, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Aug. 21. The report also indicated a nearly 1% rise in ethanol stocks, while exports surged by over 15%.
For the week ending Aug. 16, fuel ethanol production averaged 1.098 million barrels per day. This marks an increase of 17,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week’s output of 1.072 million barrels per day. When compared to the same period last year, production was up by 50,000 barrels per day.
The weekly ethanol stocks reached 23.574 million barrels for the week ending Aug. 16, an increase of 220,000 barrels from the previous week’s total of 23.354 million barrels. Compared to the same week last year, stocks were up by 784,000 barrels.
Fuel ethanol exports averaged 82,000 barrels per day during the week ending Aug. 16. This represents an increase of 11,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week’s export figure of 71,000 barrels per day. However, when compared to the same week last year, exports were down by 12,000 barrels per day. The report noted that no fuel ethanol imports were recorded for the week ending Aug. 16.
