Gas prices in the state have fallen for the ninth consecutive week, reaching an average of $3.19 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday. This marks a decrease from last week’s average of $3.23, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Over the past month, the average fuel price has decreased by about 19 cents. The EIA reported that gas prices in the state have fluctuated significantly over the past year, hitting a low of $3.11 on January 22, 2024, and peaking at $3.86 on August 14, 2023.
One year ago, the average gas price in New York was 16% higher, at $3.80 per gallon. Currently, the average gas price across the United States is $3.19, making New York prices about 0.1% higher than the national average. The national average has also risen from last week’s price of $3.18 per gallon.
