Gas prices in the Gulf Coast region rose last week, averaging $2.73 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This marks an increase from the previous week’s price of $2.73 per gallon.
Over the past month, average fuel prices in the region have dropped by approximately 16 cents. The EIA reports that gas prices in the Gulf Coast have varied significantly over the past year, reaching as low as $2.55 on December 18, 2023, and peaking at $3.46 on August 21, 2023.
A year ago, gas prices in the Gulf Coast region were 18% higher, averaging $3.35 per gallon. In comparison, the national average gas price last week was $3.19, making Gulf Coast prices about 14.2% lower than the national average. The national average has risen slightly from $3.18 per gallon last week.
