Chevron, the global energy giant, is set to supply 600 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to the Angola LNG (ALNG) facility by the close of 2024. This development is tied to the completion of the Sanha-Lean Gas Connection (SLGC) Project, a venture spearheaded by Chevron’s local subsidiary. The project is expected to deliver lean gas to ALNG’s onshore plant, with first production anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The announcement was made by Billy Lacobie, Managing Director of Chevron’s Southern Africa Strategic Business Unit, during an “In Conversation with” session at the Angola Oil & Gas conference in Luanda on Wednesday.
“It’s very exciting as you look ahead to the immense opportunities in gas,” said Lacobie. “When discussing energy security, gas stands as one of the key enablers.”
Chevron’s plan to boost gas production is set to be achieved through the installation and connection of the SLGC Project to the existing Sanha Condensate Complex. This complex features a network of pipelines that link Chevron-operated Blocks 0 and 14 to the ALNG facility.
The increase in gas supply is seen as a major step towards enhancing energy security in the region, with gas playing an increasingly important role in the global energy landscape.
