Gas prices in Massachusetts dropped for the second consecutive week, averaging $3.01 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday. This marks a slight decrease from last week’s average of $3.02 per gallon, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Over the past month, the average fuel price in the state has fallen by approximately 21 cents. The EIA notes that gas prices in Massachusetts have ranged from a low of $3.01 on October 7, 2024, to a high of $3.76 on August 7, 2023.
In comparison to last year, gas prices are significantly lower. A year ago, the average price in Massachusetts was $3.65 per gallon, which is 17% higher than the current average.
Nationally, the average gas price last week was $3.14 per gallon, making Massachusetts prices about 4.0% lower than the national average. This national average has also decreased from $3.18 per gallon the previous week.
