Gas prices in Massachusetts dropped for the second week in a row, reaching an average of $2.97 per gallon for regular fuel on Monday, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This marks a slight decrease from last week’s price of $2.98 per gallon.
The state’s average gas price has fallen about 8 cents since last month. Over the past year, prices have ranged from as low as $2.97 per gallon on Nov. 11, 2023, to as high as $3.76 per gallon on Aug. 7, 2023.
One year ago, the average gas price in Massachusetts was 13% higher, at $3.43 per gallon. Across the U.S., the average gas price last week was $3.05 per gallon, making Massachusetts prices about 2.8% lower than the national average. The national average has also dropped slightly from $3.07 per gallon last week.
