Gas prices in Massachusetts increased slightly last week, reaching an average of $2.96 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday, up from $2.95 the previous week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Despite this week’s rise, the average price is about 6 cents lower than it was a month ago. Over the past year, gas prices in the state have ranged from as low as $2.95 per gallon on November 18, 2024, to as high as $3.76 per gallon on August 7, 2023.
One year ago, the average gas price in Massachusetts was 12% higher at $3.35 per gallon. The national average price for gas last week was $3.04 per gallon, making Massachusetts prices about 2.7% lower than the national average. The national average is down slightly from last week’s $3.05 per gallon.
