Petrol and diesel prices rose again in February, according to the latest AA Ireland Fuel Survey.
Petrol saw an increase of four cents, reaching an average of €1.80 per litre. Diesel prices also climbed by four cents, now averaging €1.77 per litre.
However, there was a small break for electric vehicle (EV) owners, as the cost of charging slightly dropped. The average annual cost for EV drivers to cover 17,000 km is now €810, down by one cent from January.
Elena Leao, Marketing & PR at AA Ireland, noted that rising fuel prices are putting pressure on households. However, she added that motorists can take steps to manage their fuel consumption.
“Simple actions like planning routes to avoid unnecessary travel, driving at a steady speed, and using eco-driving modes can all help reduce fuel use,” Leao said.
She emphasized that “every little bit of efficiency counts,” and adopting mindful driving habits can ease some of the financial burden.
