KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced its gas supply schedule for Eid ul Fitr, ensuring that residents of Karachi will have a full gas pressure supply throughout the holiday.
A spokesperson from SSGC confirmed that all gas valves will be fully opened, providing uninterrupted gas supply during the festive period. Gas will be available around the clock for the three days of Eid, continuing until midnight. The same schedule will apply to Chand Raat, the night before Eid.
For any complaints related to gas supply, the spokesperson urged residents to reach out to SSGC’s helpline at 1199.
Earlier, SSGC had assured the public of a steady gas supply for Sehri and Iftar during Ramadan. The utility confirmed that gas would be available from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. for Sehri and from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Iftar throughout the fasting month.
As for the Eid ul Fitr celebrations, Pakistan is expected to mark the first day on Monday (tomorrow), while several other countries, including Saudi Arabia, are celebrating Eid today. According to astronomical predictions, the Shawwal moon will likely be visible today, March 30, indicating that Eid ul Fitr will be observed in Pakistan on March 31.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with regional committees, will meet today (Sunday, the 29th of Ramadan) to officially sight the Shawwal moon. The meeting, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad. Religious scholars, meteorologists, and other experts will review moon sighting reports from across the country to confirm the date of Eid ul Fitr celebrations.
