U.S. fuel ethanol production decreased by 4% during the week ending April 4, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released on April 9. However, stocks of fuel ethanol increased by 2%, and exports saw a significant rise of 180%.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.021 million barrels per day for the week, down by 42,000 barrels per day from the previous week, when production was 1.063 million barrels per day. Compared to the same week last year, production for the week ending April 4 was 35,000 barrels per day lower.
The week ending April 4 also saw an increase in fuel ethanol stocks, which grew by 422,000 barrels to reach 27.034 million barrels. This was up from 26.612 million barrels reported for the previous week. Compared to the same week in 2024, stocks for the week ending April 4 were 826,000 barrels higher.
Fuel ethanol exports averaged 174,000 barrels per day during the week, up by 112,000 barrels per day from the previous week’s export rate of 62,000 barrels per day.
