According to comprehensive British media reports, German investigators are pursuing clues that may be related to Ukraine’s sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. Previously, all eyes were on Russian naval activity in the Baltic before and after the blast. But now, multinational investigative journalists claim that German authorities do not believe Russia was responsible for any sabotage after thoroughly examining Russian naval exercises near the site of the blast.
German investigators are now turning their attention to the yacht Andromeda. A shell company founded in Poland by two Ukrainians is said to have chartered the yacht, which was seen near the blast site in the days before the pipeline was sabotaged. Traces of “military-grade underwater deployable explosives” were also found on the yacht. The report also suggested that German authorities had targeted two other Ukrainians, from near Kiev and near Odessa, as other members of the yacht. One of the men, a 26-year-old, is said to have served in the Ukrainian military. Despite the theories surfacing, security analysts are skeptical how a small team could have carried out such a complex operation on a small yacht without a submarine.
