SPR

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is the United States’ emergency oil stockpile. It is the largest emergency oil storage in the world, with a current capacity of 713.5 million barrels. The SPR was established in the aftermath of the 1973-74 oil embargo as a response to the country’s vulnerability to oil supply disruptions.
